Work is now underway on a multi-million pound development to provide new homes in Speke.
The scheme to “breathe new life” into The Crescent site will bring 28 two-bedroom houses as well as two retail units for the area.
South Liverpool Homes (SLH) secured funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) for the project, which is being built by developer Countryside Properties.
Work is beginning on the retail units first, which will be occupied by a Post Office and an off-licence, while the demolition of the existing Crescent building takes place first to make way for the housing.
The shops are expected to be completed by October this year and the homes, which will include four bungalows, are due to be finished by November 2017.
SLH’s chief executive, Julie Fadden, says: “We promised the local community that we will regenerate this area and that is exactly what this new development will do.
“Not only will the development breathe new life into the area, it will also address local housing needs by bringing much-needed, affordable, high quality homes to the local community.”
Elsewhere in South Liverpool, SLH also has a development of 23 two-bedroom homes underway on Window Lane and the Old Garston Market site in Garston, which will be ready to move into this summer.
