Liverpool’s restaurant and retail hotspot Bold Street will host a day of celebrations as part of a forthcoming Independents’ Week campaign.
The festivities will form part of a seven-day programme of events and special offers honouring the city centre’s growing independent business community.
Kicking off from 3-9 July, the initiative is being organised by Liverpool BID Company on behalf of its BID levy payers, and will acknowledge businesses around Castle Street, Old Hall Street, the Cavern Quarter, Church Street, Metquarter and Bold Street which help make central Liverpool unique.
With offers and events throughout the week, and a Celebrating Independents Networking Breakfast on 4 July to bring businesses together at Water Street’s Oh Me Oh My, the campaign will conclude with the Celebrating Bold Street festivities on 9 July.
From 10am until 6pm, visitors to the popular street will be able to pick up home-grown and handmade treats from a farmers market and arts and craft stalls.
Plus there’ll be a pop-up kitchen with top Bold Street chefs sharing the secrets of their signature dishes, and attractions including street theatre, Tai Chi demonstrations, giant games, face painting and circus skill workshops.
Nisha Katona, founder of Liverpool’s Mowgli restaurants, says: “Independents’ Week is a great way to raise the profile of the many amazing independent businesses we have in the city centre – from restaurants and eateries to delightful traders selling all sorts of unique and wonderful products you won’t get elsewhere.
“Thanks to Liverpool BID Company, we have an opportunity to say ‘look, we are here – come in and take a look’.
“Many people will discover what is on offer here – perhaps for the first time – and the hope is that they come back to see us again next time they are in the city centre.”
