The Caledonia wins North West dog-friendly pub award

The Caledonia has been hailed a perfect North West pit stop for pooches after winning a Dog-friendly Pub Award.

Situated on Caledonia Street, the watering hole is one of 12 regional winners across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales to scoop this year’s DogBuddy prize.

Pub-going dog owners voted for the establishment in the competition, which aims to present dog-friendly values across the nation’s pubs and inspire the public to take their four-legged friends to discover and visit their local pubs.

Fellow Liverpool venues The Storrsdale, on Storrsdale Road, and Dale Street’s Dead Craft Beer Company were also recognised in the North West round.

Commenting on the win, The Caledonia’s landlady, Laura King, says: “All our staff work so hard to make dogs and dog owners welcome in the pub so it’s a pleasure to be able to tell them that their efforts have been recognised. Our pub community as a whole will be made up, it’s really acknowledgement of everyone’s hard work.

“Being dog-friendly means understanding the role dogs play in home and public life. Accepting them as important within the family unit.

“Lots of our regulars and locals have dogs and it is important to us that their pets feel as welcome as the owners. One of our regular’s dog, a French bulldog called Louis, lays flat on his stomach outside the pub until his owner Fran brings him in.”

Richard Setterwall, founder and CEO of DogBuddy comments; “For the second year running, DogBuddy – with the help of dog lovers up and down the country – has been searching for the best of the best when it comes to dog-friendly pubs and, with The Caledonia, we’ve found just that.

“The superb service demonstrated shows a real consideration for dog welfare and happiness, which we at DogBuddy value above all. The whole DogBuddy pack is proud to congratulate The Caledonia on winning the Dog-friendly Pub Award for North West, and hopes that the awards will inspire dog owners country-wide to discover and support their local pubs”.
