Christmas concerts at St George’s Hall announced

Liverpool’s Lord Mayor will host two Christmas carol concerts at St George’s Hall on 22 December, featuring the Merseyside Police Band and two Liverpool choirs.

The Merseyside Police Band will lead the singing of the choirs and will also perform a solo piece. Special guests include The Liverpool Singing Choir, The Liverpool Community Choir, Danielle Thomas and Danny Pye, and also the Maghull Parish Hand Bell Ringers.

The concerts will be hosted by Radio Merseyside’s Roger Phillips and will raise money for the Lord Mayor’s charities; The Alzheimer’s Society, The County of Merseyside Branch of The Soldiers, Sailors, Airman and Families Association (SSAFA), Forces Help, Teenage Cancer Trust and The Reader Organisation.

Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Erica Kemp says: “Christmas is such an important time for people to come together and celebrate and a carol concert is the perfect opportunity to do this.

“I hope that by holding two concerts at different times I can encourage as many people, young and old, to come along and enjoy an afternoon or evening of festive fun.

“Not only will there be something for everyone to enjoy but by purchasing a ticket you will also be helping some very worthy charities, and what better time to help others than at Christmas.”

There will be a matinee carol concert at 2.30pm and an evening concert at 7pm, which will be slightly longer. On arrival at both concerts, guests will receive hot chocolate or mulled wine and a mince pie.
