Costa Coffee has submitted plans to convert a former bank near Moorfields train station into its latest Liverpool branch.
The national chain wants to occupy the old Yorkshire Bank site at the junction of Moorfields and Dale Street.
‘Unit C’ has been vacant since June 2015 and Costa says the new outlet will “add vibrancy” to the street frontage.
Planning permission is being sought for the change of use of the ground and first floors of Unit C from A2 to mixed A1/A3 use to allow occupation as a coffee shop.
If approved by Liverpool City Council, the ground floor would comprise seating for 70 customers, with eight tables outside to the front of the unit.
Costa envisages the new branch would result in the employment of 18 people in a variety of full and part-time roles.
According to the planning application, the opening hours of the coffee shop are likely to be between 6.30am and 8pm from Monday to Saturday, with reduced hours of 8am to 6.30pm on Sundays.
