Four storeys of new student accommodation could be built on a vacant plot of land in Liverpool’s Edge Hill area.
Plans have been put forward to create 25 new bedrooms in a building attached to the existing Grinfield Street accommodation next to Queensland Street.
According to an application submitted to Liverpool City Council, the proposed new student bedrooms would be spread across four cluster apartments with communal facilities and cycle parking.
A planning document says: “The proposal sits comfortably within the existing character of the area, designed to blend into the existing building with massing and scale appropriate to both the existing building and the neighbouring properties.”
The proposed student homes, which have been designed by architect Falconer Chester Hall, will be made up of three seven-bedroom apartments and one apartment of four bedrooms each including shared lounge and kitchen areas if given the go ahead.
No off-street car parking will be incorporated into project, as the planning application adds: “This is an acceptable location for the a development of student accommodation without providing car parking as there are frequent and regular buses to the universities throughout the local area and the site is within easy walking distance of the universities.”
