Hope Street’s Ego restaurant to leave city after 18 years

Mediterranean restaurant Ego, which has been on Hope Street for 18 years, is relocating outside of Liverpool.

The Punchbowl in Sefton Village will serve as the eatery’s new home as part of the brand’s plan to grow its pub locations throughout the country.

In an email to customers, the chain, which has 16 restaurants, says the move follows “18 wonderful years in the city centre”.

The messages reads: “We are excited to announce that we are relocating our city centre restaurant on Hope Street to The Punchbowl in Sefton Village.

The Punchbowl, Sefton Village.

“The decision to move from Hope Street was taken to further grow our Ego brand in pub locations throughout the country.

“We have had 18 wonderful years in the city centre and developed countless friends over that period, many of whom are regular visitors to Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

“We will miss you, but hope to see many of you at The Punchbowl later this year!”

Ego at The Punchbowl, which will feature an open kitchen alongside a full bar serving beers, regional cask ales and cocktails, is expected to open in mid May 2019.
