House of Fraser confirms plans for new luxury department store in Liverpool

House of Fraser is planning to open one of its new luxury department stores here in Liverpool.

A national newspaper report has suggested ‘Frasers’ will stock premium fashion brands such as Gucci and Paul Smith.

The same article said that a site in Liverpool is currently being refurbished to house the new store.

A spokesperson for House of Fraser, now owned by Mike Ashley’s Sports Direct, confirmed to YM Liverpool that it is planning to open a ‘Frasers’ in the city, but could not say where at this stage.

YM Liverpool had enquired whether the former Owen Owen building in Clayton Square, thought to be owned by Sports Direct, has been earmarked for the new department store.

Sports Direct bought House of Fraser out of administration for £90 million last August, pledging to turn the chain into the “Harrods of the high street”.

The House of Fraser in Birkenhead, Liverpool’s nearest branch, was saved from closure in September 2018 after new rent terms were agreed.
