Liverpool festive shoppers urged to back Small Business Saturday

Liverpool City Region shoppers are being urged to support local retailers in the run up to the festive season as Small Business Saturday arrives this weekend.

The nationwide 3 December campaign celebrates the contribution made to the UK by its 5.5 million small business owners.

With the Christmas shopping season now in full swing, the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) here in Merseyside is encouraging those heading out to buy gifts during Small Business Saturday to get behind the initiative and also take photographs of the independent shops and other businesses they are championing.

Images sent to the FSB via email at phil.mccabe@fsb.org.uk will then be shared through the organisation’s local Twitter account at @FSBMerseyside.

Chris Burgess, chairman of FSB’s Merseyside, West Cheshire and Wigan region, says: “We hope even more people will turn out this year to show their support for the UK’s small business community.

“This is a good moment to check out what small local businesses offer the whole year round.

“Whether you’re shopping, buying services or products, choosing where to go for a meal, or building a website – hard working, innovative small businesses in the UK are the first place you should look.”
