Liverpool developers urged to target ‘Generation Y’

Liverpool developers must cater for the needs of ‘Generation Y’ if the city is to continue attracting skilled workers, according to a housing provider.

Stephen Haigh, executive director at Your Housing Group (YHG), stresses the importance of increasing the stock of homes tailored for people born during the 1980s and early 1990s.

He tells Your Move: “If Liverpool is to continue attracting highly skilled workers then the accommodation offer across the city has to appeal to its target audience – Generation Y – and meet their exacting standards and requirements.

“We know from extensive research that Generation Y looks for specific characteristics when choosing their new home.

“High on their list of priorities is the distance they need to travel from home to work, as is being close to local amenities and transport links. They also expect their chosen home to fit in with their upwardly mobile and very current lifestyles.”

YHG is targeting ‘Generation Y’ with its upcoming Hive City Docks development, a 30-storey waterfront tower housing  private rented sector (PRS) apartments.

The £48 million scheme will include a 24-hour concierge service, a rooftop restaurant and a range of in-apartment technologies.
