Liverpool’s ‘first rooftop pool and spa’ could form part of a proposed new city centre boutique hotel in the Wolstenholme Square area.
Developer Elliot Group has acquired a former surface car park on Seel Street as it looks to add a £20 million expansion to its transformation of the city centre square, which is now underway to create new apartments, leisure and commercial space.
The firm is said to be concluding negotiations with a ‘well-known operator’ to occupy a 116-room hotel, which would back on to Wolstenholme Square’s block B and is 20 yards from a new passageway being created from the square to Seel Street.
Elliot Lawless of Elliot Group says: “The hotel will offer the city’s first rooftop pool and spa and our proposed operator is perfect for this neighbourhood, which is funky and intensely urban. We expect to conclude negotiations with them shortly.”
A planning application for the hotel is expected to be submitted during early March.
Meanwhile strip-out work is currently being carried out in Wolstenholme Square to make way for the approved £40m development of five blocks including 447 studio and one-bedroom homes, along with shops, cafes and offices and a new subterranean music venue for Cream.
