Popular Aigburth nightspot eyes expansion

Popular Aigburth Road haunt Sakara has revealed plans for expansion.

The Middle Eastern-themed bar and restaurant has submitted proposals to knock through into a vacant shop next door to increase its capacity.

Plans presented to Liverpool City Council include the creation of an opening on the dividing wall between Sakara and the former Bloom flower shop.

Since opening in 2005, Sakara has become popular nightspot with local residents and last year successfully opened its new smoke-free beer garden.

Aigburth’s food and drink offering has improved in recent years with the opening of Italian restaurant Et Alia nearby at the top of Mersey Road and plans for a second Koop restaurant located in Aigburth Vale recently announced.
