Get Ready for the Weekend in Liverpool
Remembrance commemorations, Christmas Ice Festival and more
REMEMBRANCE | City’s poignant Remembrance commemorations
Events continue ahead of Liverpool’s Service of Remembrance outside St George’s Hall at 10.30am on Sunday (11 November), this year marking a century since World War One ended.
Names of nearly 14,000 men from the city who lost their lives in the battle continue to be beamed on the ground of Exchange Flags this weekend, while St Johns Beacon will be illuminated with specially designed poppy lighting on 10-11 November and a portrait of World War One soldier Wilfred Owen will be projected near Lime Street Station.
FESTIVE | Christmas Ice Festival returns
A winter wonderland will once again transform Liverpool’s Pier Head from Saturday (10 November) through to 6 January 2019.
An outdoor ice skating rink, ice slide and Ice Jet ride are among the family-friendly attractions this year, alongside funfair rides and festive food and drinks.
ART | Satire on show in Williamson Square
Head to the Liverpool city centre destination and catch Twitter sensation Coldwar Steve’s first public artwork following its unveiling today (9 November).
‘The Forth Estate’ continues the theme of the artist’s online creations, superimposing ‘Eastenders’ actor Steve McFadden – aka Phil Mitchell – into a British scene alongside a catalogue of other well-known faces.
