Restaurant plan for former Waterstones store on Bold Street

The former Waterstones store on Bold Street could become a restaurant under new plans.

A licensing application has been made to Liverpool City Council to open a new eatery at 14-16 Bold Street.

The Grade II-listed building has sat empty ever since Waterstones left in February 2014.

The application to grant a premises licence for a restaurant is requesting permission to open from 10am till 2am.

No name is included on the application, which is also seeking the go-ahead to host live music events.

The new restaurant could join another eatery which is in the works across the street at the famous Lyceum building.

China Dina UK Limited was awarded planning approval last summer to to convert the Grade II*-listed landmark’s lower ground floor from its previous use as a bank.

The former library and post office has been largely empty for a number of years, with the last tenant, The Co-operative Bank, moving out in April 2017.
