Summer-long festival to launch in Liverpool

A summer-long festival will get underway in Liverpool this week promising an eclectic mix of entertainment and activities for all ages.

The Liverpool Village – ‘A Festival of Things’ will bring everything from live music and street animation to food and drink and family fun to Pier Head when it officially opens this Thursday (30 June).

The three-month attraction will see features such as crazy golf, Segway rides and ‘Total Wipeout’ style fun being included in the programme for the area, which forms part of Liverpool’s UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Martin O’Shea, managing director of The Liverpool Village which will be free to enter, says: “We are programming our most iconic space for the entire summer to mid-September and want to engage and listen to everyone to make sure it keeps evolving.

“As our start point we are bringing a wide range of modern family-focused activities, street food and juice bars, live musicians and memorabilia, festival wear and souvenir retailers among other attractions.

“The build on the new structure, which will house one of two concepts to rival the coolest Mediterranean-style beach bars, is already underway. There will be something for everyone at The Liverpool Village.”

Ahead of the launch he adds: “This is Liverpool’s South Bank, its Rastro and its Ramblas all wrapped in to one, on what was recently voted as Europe’s finest waterfront.  It will now be animated throughout the summer and we’re looking forward to welcoming the world to the Pier Head and entertaining them all the way.”
