The Whitechapel Centre has launched its first online raffle to raise funds to help tackle homelessness in the city.
First prize is a seven-night Scottish Highlights & Faroes cruise for two people, donated to the charity by Cruise & Maritime Voyages.
The company decided to donate the prize in order to support the good work done by The Whitechapel Centre.
Bob McGowan, head of customer services at Cruise & Maritime Voyages, says: “Last year, a delayed departure from Liverpool meant that we needed to provide sandwiches to our waiting guests.
“Liverpool Cruise Terminal suggested that we donated all the leftover food to The Whitechapel Centre and so we became aware of the amazing work that this organisation undertakes.”
Councillor Frank Hont, cabinet member for housing, adds: “The Whitechapel Centre provide an invaluable service and I’m delighted that as a result of our cruise team, they have been able to source a highly desirable prize for their raffle.
“This will hopefully entice many people to take part in the raffle and as a result generate as much money as possible which can be re-invested in the outstanding work they do to help people who are homeless, socially excluded or experiencing housing poverty.”
Tickets for the raffle are £5 each and are available through the charity’s website.
