Liverpool-based property services company, The Momentum Group, will continue its sponsorship of the ‘Build-to-Rent (BTR) Development of the Year’ category at next week’s YM Liverpool Property & Business Awards.
Founded by Chris Bliss and Chris Renshaw in Liverpool in 2018, The Momentum Group has grown from a team of 11 serving three clients in the city to employing 63 people advising almost 200 clients spread throughout the North West and beyond.
At the start of the year, The Momentum Group strengthened its leadership team with the appointment of Yvonne Emmett Cannell and Ian O’Doherty to its board. Both join as advisors to the Group’s co-founders and will help shape the company as it moves into phase two of its growth.
Based on Dale Street, the company has four divisions: Advise, Build, Manage and Maintain, while Momentum Contribute represents the business’s commitment to having a positive impact on its people and the communities of which it is part, and runs through every aspect of The Momentum Group’s activities.
Karl Clawley, who joined The Momentum Group in 2021 and oversees Momentum Contribute, which includes the group’s charitable Foundation, has been shortlisted in the ‘City Region Champion’ category.
2024 saw The Momentum Group publish its first Annual Report for Momentum Contribute, the arm of the business focused on its commitment to people, places, the planet and professionalism. In addition, the Group co-organised and hosted the Liverpool City Region’s second sustainability conference, growing it significantly from its launch last year.
Momentum Manage provides property management services for The Princes Building on Dale Street and Momentum Maintain, provides facilities management services for 240 apartments at The Keel on Liverpool’s waterfront; The Princes Building, serviced apartments across the city for My Property Host, various City Residential managed properties, and White Lion Walk in Guildford.
Momentum Maintain has also delivered facilities management services to Angel Gardens in Manchester and Moda, The Lexington, at Princes Dock, Liverpool.
Momentum Build and Momentum Advise have provided a wide range of high-profile retail delivery projects for Grosvenor’s Liverpool ONE, including Zara, Montirex, AllSaints, and Flight Club. As part of an ongoing partnership with Grosvenor, The Momentum Group has transformed the former Debenhams in Liverpool ONE into the new home of Gravity MAX and M&S. Momentum Build completed the fit-out of Gravity MAX to create the brand’s new national flagship.
The group’s facilities management division, Momentum Maintain, has experienced significant growth during the last year. Its portfolio includes Runcorn Shopping City, the town’s main retail destination, and several of Liverpool’s landmark buildings, including the Grade I-listed Oriel Chambers for Yakel Property Investment, the Grade A office building Aviation House and Bramley House in Guildford, Surrey.
The Momentum Group has also recently celebrated achieving coveted B Corporation™ (B Corp™) Certification, joining a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact.
Administered by B Lab and measuring five impact areas, B Corp™ assesses governance, workers, community, environment and customers, with The Momentum Group scoring particularly highly in the community category. The company was also noted for its ‘Designed to Give – Impact Business Model’, due to the group’s philanthropic arm, the Momentum Foundation; which supports a number of local charities.

During the ceremony, renowned UK property pioneer Hugh Frost will take part in a special Q&A with YM Liverpool editor Lawrence Saunders.
Frost, whose Beetham Organization is responsible for a string of landmark developments in Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham, will discuss transformational proposals for the city’s King Edward Triangle industrial estate, whilst reflecting on his 30+ year career in the property industry.
