The unveiling of a new 3G football pitch in Kirkby will take place next month.

Open from 2 August, the new facility at Kirkby Leisure Centre includes a full-size 3G all-weather surface, floodlights and changing facilities.

The surface is being laid this week, with the lighting and fencing to follow.

The pitch will be available for schools, football leagues or companies to host their own football competitions.

Coaching sessions and walking football will also be available at the facility, which has been made possible via a £610,000 investment by operator Volair.

The pitch is just one part of a major relaunch of leisure facilities in Kirkby, with a brand new fully refurbished gym and sauna at Kirkby Leisure Centre also delivered.
