The son of Liverpool FC's legendary former manager The son of Liverpool FC's legendary former manager Jürgen Klopp is behind plans to open a new £500,000 padel facility in South Liverpool. Marc Klopp is one of four partners at Padel FC, the company named by Liverpool City Council as the preferred bidder to construct six indoor and three outdoor padel courts on a plot of land at the Liverpool Tennis Centre in Wavertree. Padel FC, which also lists Liverpool-born former footballer Bradley Orr as a director on Companies House, plans to construct a dome-shaped interlocking steel structure with plastic sheeting to cover an area currently occupied by five disused outdoor tennis courts, an overspill car park and two grass verges. According to documents published by the council ahead of a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, 6 May, Padel FC has committed to a £500,000 investment during the initial construction phase. The local authority’s cabinet will be asked next week to approve a 25-year lease to Padel FC, generating rental income of over £500,000 across the term. #klopp #lfc #padel #sport #liverpool

David Lloyd Leisure has submitted plans for a bran David Lloyd Leisure has submitted plans for a brand-new club @wirralwaters The planning application has been officially submitted to Wirral Council, with the proposed site located in Peel Waters’ Bidston Dock site off Wallasey Bridge Road. Covering six acres, the new club will offer a wide range of facilities, including: • Three weather-protected tennis courts • Six canopy-covered padel courts • Heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools • An indoor spa and an outdoor spa garden • A sports hall with two indoor courts • A new state of the art gym • A children’s play area • A cafe lounge
The BBC has announced new drama The Cage, written The BBC has announced new drama The Cage, written and created by BAFTA nominated Tony Schumacher (The Responder) and starring BAFTA award-winner Sheridan Smith (Cilla, The C Word, Mrs Biggs). Produced by Element Pictures, a Fremantle Company (The Listeners, Normal People), for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, The Cage is described as a "high-stakes, high energy crime story set within the world of a Liverpool casino with two unforgettable characters at its heart". When Leanne (Smith) and Matty (Michael Socha) discover they are both robbing from the safe at the inner-city casino they work in, their lives are set on a collision course; with each other, the local gangster they're stealing from, and the police. The five-part drama will be directed by Al Mackay (Kidnapped, Without Sin) and shot in and around Liverpool and Merseyside.
More than 45,000 people visited Royal Albert Dock More than 45,000 people visited Royal Albert Dock Liverpool this weekend to view the new 'Borealis' art installation. Dan Acher's work transformed the dock’s historic Hartley Quay, using beams of light and the elements to create an illusion of the Aurora Borealis, accompanied by a relaxing soundtrack to further enhance the experience. Borealis is available to view until 30 March, from 7-10pm each evening on Hartley Quay, next to The Pump House. 📸 Mark McNulty

Renowned city restaurateurs Paolo and Donato Cillo Renowned city restaurateurs Paolo and Donato Cillo have teamed up with fellow hospitality business owner Sham Jagota to take over Liverpool’s famous Panoramic 34. The Cillo brothers operate several eateries across the city, including Il Forno, Gran Caffè (with locations on Duke Street, Lark Lane, and in the Italian Quarter), Crust on Bold Street, Antonietta, Hey Farina, and Brunchin’ & Botanico in Woolton Village Sham, who runs the popular neighbourhood restaurant Al Dente on Lark Lane, says: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to work in partnership with Paolo and Donato and there is no better restaurant than the beautiful Panoramic 34. “Together we will bring our wealth of experience and creative ideas. I am really excited by our vision and look forward to welcoming all our guests on this amazing journey with us!” Paolo adds: “We have been operating hospitality venues in Liverpool for over two decades, taking time to carefully understand the city, our guests and the experience that each venue must provide. “Taking over Panoramic further adds to our growing group of restaurants and cafes, ensuring that we can offer our guests a variety of dining experiences in the city.” Panoramic 34, one of the highest restaurants in the UK, is situated on the 34th floor of Liverpool’s tallest building, West Tower.
The BBC has released first look pictures of 'This The BBC has released first look pictures of 'This City Is Ours', an epic new crime drama set and filmed in Liverpool. 'This City Is Ours' is the story of Michael Kavanagh (James Nelson-Joyce), a man who for all of his adult life has been involved in organised crime, working for his friend and gang leader Ronnie Phelan (Sean Bean). When Ronnie begins to hint at retirement, Michael too begins to imagine another life. Because, for the first time in his life, Michael is in love. For the first time in his life, he sees beyond the day-to-day, he sees a future: something to win and something to lose - Diana Williams (Hannah Onslow). 'This City Is Ours' also stars Jack McMullen as Jamie Phelan, Julie Graham as Elaine Phelan, Laura Aikman as Rachel Duffy, Kevin Harvey as Bobby Duffy, Saoirse-Monica Jackson as Cheryl Crawford, Mike Noble as Banksey, Bobby Schofield as Bonehead, Darci Shaw as Melissa Sullivan, and Stephen Walters as Davy Crawford.
