South Liverpool Homes (SLH) has submitted plans to South Liverpool Homes (SLH) has submitted plans to Liverpool City Council for a new development delivering approximately 57 homes off Aigburth Road in South Liverpool.

The proposed scheme will provide a mix of apartments for social rent, Shared Ownership and Rent to Buy, offering "greater choice in one of Liverpool’s most desirable locations".

The Alexandra Drive development, designed by @falconerchesterhall, will include the renovation of a listed Victorian villa on the site, formerly used as a care home.

The historic building will be converted into 17 apartments for social rent, preserving its heritage while bringing it back into active use.

The project will also see a new, purpose-built apartment block constructed to the rear of the villa, facing Aigburth Road.

Subject to planning approval, work is expected to start in spring 2027.

Liverpool City Council is set to consider plans fo Liverpool City Council is set to consider plans for a 28-storey residential tower at the £1 billion King Edward development later this month.

The scheme, brought forward by Davos Property Developments Limited in conjunction with Beetham Davos Ltd, will go before the city’s planning committee on 17 February with a recommendation to approve.

Designed by master planners Brock Carmichael, the tower would deliver 255 one, two and three-bed apartments and is described as a 'pathfinder' for the wider King Edward scheme.

Plans also include residents’ amenities such as a lounge, gym and workspace, alongside top-floor indoor and outdoor spaces offering 360-degree views across the city skyline, the River Mersey and the Welsh mountains.

Woolton Cinema CIC has announced that its recent ' Woolton Cinema CIC has announced that its recent '12 Days of Christmas' campaign raised £60,000, bringing overall fundraising to just under £220,000 - a major milestone in efforts to secure the future of Liverpool’s oldest surviving cinema.

Built in 1927, Woolton Picture House is the city’s only remaining single-screen cinema and is the focus of a community-led campaign to raise £700,000 to purchase and restore the building as a community-owned cultural venue.

The festive programme saw the South Liverpool landmark reopen for a limited run of fundraising screenings, welcoming 7,300 ticket-holders across 12 days, complete with 1,500 buckets of popcorn, 2,000 interval ice creams - and even a Christmas Eve marriage proposal.

A trio of Liverpool’s Irish pubs have made it on A trio of Liverpool’s Irish pubs have made it onto the inaugural Guinness Harp Guide - a new list celebrating the top 35 places in Great Britain to enjoy a perfect pint of the black stuff. ⁣

Shenanigans (Tithebarn Street), The Monro (Duke Street) and Pogue Mahone (Seel Street) have all earned a spot in the guide, which celebrates the pubs that serve an "exceptional pint and act as true pillars of their communities".

A brand-new padel centre with championship-level i A brand-new padel centre with championship-level indoor and outdoor courts has officially opened in Speke.

Located on Sterling Road, the facility is @ignitepadeluk's third opening this year, following new sites on Queens Drive in April and at Cheshire Oaks in September.

The Speke site, which opened today (Monday 1 December), includes six indoor courts and four outdoor covered courts. The indoor courts are the first of their kind in the city.

Padel - a sport combining elements of tennis and squash - is now the fastest-growing racquet sport in the world and has seen a rapid rise in popularity across the UK.

The awards were presented during a glamorous ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Liverpool City Centre, hosted for the fourth consecutive year by Liverpool-born stage and screen star Claire Sweeney 🎭

Accolades spanned almost 30 categories, including Property Developer of the Year, Business Leader of the Year, and Residential Property Agency of the Year, through to Build-to-Rent Development of the Year, Young Business Leader of the Year, and LCR Business of the Year 🎖️

This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award went to veteran TV and film producer Colin McKeown MBE from @laproductionsuk, who was joined on stage by legendary Liverpool actor Ricky Tomlinson ⭐

Lewis Capaldi is set to play a major outdoor show Lewis Capaldi is set to play a major outdoor show in Sefton Park on 15 August next year.

The Scottish singer is the first headliner confirmed for 'In the Park 2026', with further acts to be announced in the coming months.

The news follows Capaldi’s sold-out 17-date arena tour across the UK and Ireland - his first in two years - which featured new material that has drawn strong critical praise.

Presale tickets open at 9am on Thursday 20 November, with general sale beginning at 9am on Friday 21 November.
