Theatregoers will be given a glimpse behind the scenes of the new Everyman Company when the venue hosts an ‘Open House’ this Saturday (28 January).

Visitors will also be treated to activities and enterainment from performers and creative names including ‘The Mersey Sound’ poet Brian Patten during the event.

Taking place from 12-5pm, the event will offer the chance to find out more about the cast, forthcoming plays and plans for the Everyman’s first resident acting company in 25 years.

Meanwhile rehearsals will be opened around the building and fans of the stage can hear music from Lizzy Nunnery’s ‘The Sum’, as well as hearing from Brian Patten as a stage adaptation of his book ‘The Story Giant’ heads for the venue’s stage.

Plus younger audiences can enjoy a fun treasure hunt and Paddy Hughes, organiser of open mic poetry night ‘A Lovely Word’, will host a special ‘Platform’ session.

The Everyman and Playhouse’s artistic director, Gemma Bodinetz, says: “By having a rep company we’re creating a family.

“We want the open day to create a conversation between our artists and our audiences.”
