Work to give the 11-storey Belem Tower, which overlooks Sefton Park, a new lease of life as a luxury apartment development is back underway.

Construction on the post-war building has restarted after a short delay, and the latest plans include further improvements to the specification of the apartments. The 63 one, two and three-bedroom homes will include Virgin Media wifi, a modern intercom system and what has been described as an ‘eco design’ once they are completed.

The apartments at Belem Tower have a completion date of 2016 and a spokesperson for IPS Invest says development is “full steam ahead” on the refurbishment, with a sales office and show home that are “fully open with viewings available on request”.

The first phase of the development has seen a number of properties become available to buy and a reduced price of £77,500 is being offered until the end of June.

Once open, the new apartments at Belem Tower will offer views over the 250-acre, Grade II-listed Sefton Park, the River Mersey and the Welsh hills. Free parking is available for some of the residents.
