The UK’s biggest operator of indoor adventure parks wants to open a new venue at the heart of one of Liverpool city centre’s prime retail areas.
If approved, a planning application submitted by the owners of Clayton Square would see Flip Out launch its second Merseyside site.
Rockspring UK Value 2 Liverpool (Rockspring), which purchased Clayton Square in 2016 for £38.4 million, has put forward proposals for the change of use of the former Peacocks and Clas Ohlson stores.
The application states that in the event planning permission is granted, Flip Out will occupy the site as an indoor adventure park featuring trampolining, soft play, inflatables, and ninja tag – amongst other activities.
The centre would also include a café and the application goes on to say that Flip Out’s vision is to open an adventure park in the centre of Liverpool to provide a “family-friendly facility that promotes a fun physical activity”.
Flip Out originated in Australia in 2012 when founder Brent Grundy decided he wanted to deliver a “fun experience for parents to share with their children and in particular, an adventure that did not exclude children randomly by age or height”.
Currently, the closest Flip Out venue to Liverpool city centre is located in Aintree on Topham Drive (pictured) and features an array of trampolines, slides, foam pits and other soft play attractions.
