Venmore Auctions has announced the appointment of Cathy Holt as senior auction valuer, marking her return to the Liverpool firm where she began her career 38 years ago.
Cathy spent more than 20 years at Venmore before moving to rival auction house Sutton Kersh, where she held several senior positions, including joint head of auctions and associate director.
Having established a strong reputation and loyal client base across the North West property market, Cathy says her decision to return to Venmore was driven by a desire to work in a more personal, independent environment.
She explains: “The last eight years the structure changed to become less personal with decisions being made by Head Office which didn’t always reflect the local market conditions. I was starting to lose the passion that I always had for the industry and decided to change course and return to where it all began.”
Cathy adds: “I am so excited to return to Venmore auctions, I’m loving the opportunity and I’m looking forward to spending the remainder of my career back where I fell in love with the industry. I’ve been overwhelmed already with the very positive response from all my past clients, it’s all very humbling.”
Paul Lea, chairman of The Venmore Group, says Cathy’s return will play an important role in the company’s continued growth.
“It’s an absolute privilege to have Cathy back with us after all these years. I’ve known Cathy for around 35 years and she is without question the leading auction agent in the North West. Her highly respected reputation, experience and very loyal following of buyers and vendors will help us achieve our goal of continued growth.”
Established in 1849, Venmore Auctions is Liverpool’s oldest remaining independent property auction house, specialising in residential and commercial properties, investment portfolios and land.
Its final online auction of 2026 takes place on Wednesday 9 December.
