A Merseyside stage school which has trained hundreds of professional dancers, as well as the stars of several hit shows, is on the hunt for talented young performers to join its elite training programme.

The city’s rising stars are being invited to audition for Liverpool Theatre School on Saturday 29 January to be in with a chance of landing a coveted place on a full-time professional training course in musical theatre, contemporary dance or acting, starting in September.

Liverpool Theatre School’s prestigious training programme is designed to give young people the skills they need to pursue a professional career in the performing arts industry.

Auditions will take place in front of a panel at Liverpool Theatre School, which is located at Liverpool Central Studios on Sefton Street, near the city’s creative quarter.

Liverpool Theatre School, whose patrons include dance legend, Wayne Sleep OBE, and renowned West End theatre producer, Bill Kenwright CBE, accepts only the most talented young performers on its professional training courses, which provide highly respected Trinity and BTEC industry qualifications.

As part of the performing arts school’s commitment to making professional training more accessible to gifted students from any background, a number of fully-funded places and bursaries will be awarded, based on audition performance and an interview with the panel.

Maxine Ellis, principal at Liverpool Theatre School, says: “Incredible talent is what we’re looking for at the auditions and I’m sure we’ll discover some extremely gifted young people as they showcase their skills and technical abilities in front of the panel.

“I would urge any talented young person with a passion for the stage to come along to the auditions and show us what they can do, even if the cost of professional training seems like it might be out of reach.

“At Liverpool Theatre School, we firmly believe that those with a special talent shouldn’t be held back by their financial circumstances and we will always find a way to make the highest level of professional training accessible to genuinely gifted students by providing the right level of support.

“Liverpool Theatre School is all about nurturing raw talent and it’s incredibly exciting to discover a budding performer with great potential. I’m really looking forward to seeing some remarkable performances during the auditions.”

In addition to the auditions on Saturday 29 January, an alternative audition date is scheduled to take place on Saturday 26 March. To secure a place, performers must register in advance by emailing info@liverpooltheatreschool.co.uk.
