Leap for literature at fundraising Bungee Fest

Thrill seekers are being encouraged to take a giant leap for city-based literary charity, The Reader Organisation this summer.

The national cause, based at Calderstones Mansion House, has announced it will host a Bungee Fest on 8-9 August, with the chance to take a fundraising 150 ft plunge.

The Calderstones Park event, which will also feature live music, craft stalls and refreshments, is gearing up to be the first bungee jump of its scale to take place in Liverpool and is already said to be attracting local and national interest.

Jane Davies, director of The Reader Organisation, says: “We’re currently in the process of restoring Calderstones Mansion House to its full-glory, and transforming it into an international flagship project for shared reading. All proceeds from Bungee Fest will equip our organisation with the resources to improve wellbeing and extend the pleasure of reading for all.

“An opportunity of this scale has never visited Liverpool before and one person’s leap of a lifetime will benefit generations to come!”

Tickets for the bungee jump cost £80 and are inclusive of admission fee and a donation to The Reader Organisation. Participants will also receive a congratulatory goody bag.
