Stand-up stars Alan Carr and Dave Spikey have set the ball rolling on this year’s Liverpool Comedy Festival line-up, the Comedy Trust has announced.
As the event gets set to return to the city region for the 14th consecutive year, taking place at various venues from 18 September to 4 October, the popular funnymen are the first acts to be revealed.
Comedian, performer and Channel 4 chat show supremo Alan Carr will perform his latest stand-up show, ‘Yap Yap’ at the Philharmonic Hall on 18-19 September.
Meanwhile ‘Phoenix Nights’ and ‘That Peter Kay Thing’ comic, Dave Spikey will bring his ‘Punchlines’ tour to the same venue on 2 October.
With more up and coming and household names still to be announced for the 2015 festival, across the area’s most prominent performance spaces and also unusual venues including shops, schools and people’s houses, festival manager and comedian Sam Avery says: “We’ve been working hard to ensure that we have a more diverse line-up this year than ever before. After the success of last year we’ve been inundated with acts wanted to be involved so we’re picking the best of the bunch to showcase in the city.”
The offer for children and young people is also set to be increased at this year’s festival, as kids’ shows and magicians will join quizzes, open mic nights, podcasts, plays and more on the programme.
