Plans for a nine-storey apartment building in the Baltic Triangle could deliver 100 new studio apartments if it is approved.

Liverpool City Council’s planning committee will decide on the plans on 23 June and the scheme has been recommended for approval.

Based on land between Norfolk Street, Watkinson Street and Simpson Street, the studios will form a building of seven and nine stories with a ground floor lounge area, foyer and some ground floor studios. The development will not boast office or shop space or car parking, although 70% of homes will have cycle parking.

The development has been submitted by Baltic Development Ltd, whose director Elliot Lawless is involved in residential and mixed-use developments at Heaps Rice Mill, Wolstenholme Square and a 12-storey student development opposite the site on Norfolk Street.

The Head of Planning has recommended the scheme for approval, and says: “The proposed studios will provide student/entry level residential accommodation in the area and will contribute towards a sustainable mix of uses in an accessible location, benefiting the local economy by populating the area and assisting with the regeneration of the Baltic Triangle”
