The Liverpool Philharmonic Hall will host The Celebration of Life concert on 6 November, uniting musicians, poets and artists to celebrate the lives of those who are living with HIV.
The event is in honour of the upcoming World AIDS Day 2015 and part of Homotopia, the local and international LGBT arts festival with all proceeds going to Sahir House, a Liverpool grass roots service that offers HIV support.
Thomas Lang, musician and event organiser, says: “It’s an honour to be putting together this year’s Celebration of Life show at the beautiful newly-renovated Philharmonic Hall’s Music room.
“The Celebration of Life show will kick off the international World AIDS Day commemorations that will take place over the next month, leading up to the day itself on 1 of December. All the money raised from the night will go directly to help people living with HIV in the Merseyside area.

Event organiser, Thomas Lang
“It’s going to be a great celebration this year and we can’t express how grateful we are to all the Liverpool artists that are volunteering to give up their precious time and talent to raise funds for Sahir House.”
Michael Head, Shack frontman, will perform rare solo material and will be joined by the Sense of Sound singers, who recently played the ‘With Love From Liverpool’ concert.
Serena Cavanagh, health awareness lead at Sahir House, says: “For thirty years we’ve been supporting people living with HIV and working hard to reduce the stigma that still surrounds the virus.
“Receiving a HIV positive diagnosis can turn someone’s life upside down, and so often they lack a supportive network and an understanding community.
“The ‘Celebration of Life’ event is not only going to raise much-needed funds for Sahir House, but also remind people that HIV has not gone away.”
The Celebration of Life concert will take place at 7:30pm on the 6 of November at The Philharmonic Hall. Tickets are available at www.liverpoolphil.com.
