Members of The Jam will perform at a celebratory Liverpool concert as the city’s successful retrospective exhibition draws to a close.
The grand finale of the ‘About the Young Idea’ display is being organised by Nicky Weller – exhibition curator and sister of frontman Paul Weller – and will see bassist Bruce Foxton and drummer Rick Buckler perform alongside The Paul Weller Band.
The announcement of the Echo Arena Liverpool show follows last week’s announcement that ‘About the Young Idea’ has been extended from its planned September close until 6 October having attracted local, national and international Jam fans.
Tickets to the ‘A Celebration of The Jam’ concert, which are now on sale, will also help raise funds for charities as a percentage of ticket proceeds are to be donated to organisations including Impact England and Be One Percent.
Ahead of the 5 October show, which will also feature special guests, Nicky Weller says: “I really wanted to give something back to the fantastic fans of the band, and what better way to do it than host this show.
“The gig at the Echo Arena will be a brilliant conclusion, with Bruce, Rick and Paul’s band rattling through all the hits like ‘Town Called Malice,’ Going Underground,’ ‘Down in the Tubestation,’ and ‘That’s Entertainment’.”
Nicky curated ‘About the Young Idea’ alongside Den Davis and Russell Reader.
