Grassroots talent in the Liverpool music scene is in with a chance of winning a new award celebrating unsung heroes in the UK.
The organisers of the INDIE50 scheme are scouring the city and other locations across the country to compile a shortlist of 50 individuals who have made an impact on their local scene.
The INDIE50 scheme launches with a public nomination period, during which anyone can nominate outstanding individuals whose work in the local industry deserves recognition.
Anyone from photographers, bloggers, sound technicians, and venue owners to door staff, promoters and designers are eligible for the prize, which was created by online ticketing brand WeGotTickets.
Nominations are open until 31 May, after which the shortlisted 50 will be assessed by a panel of experts including BBC 6 Music’s Tom Ravenscroft, Moshi Moshi owner Stephen Bass, The Great Escape general manager Kevin Moore, Coda agent Jason Edwards, journalist Laura Snapes and WeGotTickets CEO Dave Newton (pictured).
Newton says: “We’ve been helping people put on events for 15 years and wanted to recognise the independent spirit that we see in so many of them. We’re looking forward to seeing who makes the list as well as hearing some of the stories behind them.”
