A “landmark building” featuring 42 apartments and two retail units could be built adjacent to Anfield stadium under new plans.
Anfield Developments Ltd has submitted proposals to redevelop a plot on vacant land on the corner of Walton Breck Road and Burleigh Road South.
A petrol station was formerly situated on the site and it’s currently being used as a car park during Liverpool FC matches.
According to a document included with the plans recently submitted to Liverpool City Council, the aim of the new scheme is to create a “modern, high quality development that relates to, respects and responds to the character of the surrounding area.”
The document adds: “The proposal scheme seeks to tie in the old and new whilst presenting a contemporary, modern form of development that contributes to creating a greater sense of place to the site as a whole.
“The site holds a key position within the area and can be defined a key threshold through its natural site boundary in that it fronts both the newly reinforced fan square with LFC store and Main Stand but also the existing high street.
“This offers a prime opportunity to provide some visual interest to the streetscape of the high street and the square simultaneously, whilst also establishing a landmark building.”
If approved, the development would comprise of 33 two-bed, and nine one-bedroom apartments.
