The opening of Liverpool’s latest burger joint in Queen Square is the second most successful in the American chain’s history with over 10,000 sandwiches being sold in the first week alone.
Hungry locals have also gone through 3,500 fizzy drinks, 3,700 portions of fries and 1,800 milkshakes since doors opened on 7 December.
Five Guys has more than 1,200 different locations across the United States with 31 in the UK.
Daniel Hynd, director of Promenade Estates, which owns and operates Queen Square, says: “Since Five Guys opened its doors on Monday, the reaction from the Liverpool public has been fantastic.
“The news that it is the second most successful opening worldwide is incredible and is testament to the quality of the Five Guys brand.
“It’s particularly pleasing for Queen Square and the St George’s Quarter, which has seen a surge of investment in significant cultural and leisure developments in the past 18 months, such as the Shankly Hotel and the Royal Court refurbishment.”
A Five Guys spokesperson says: “We are proud and excited about our Liverpool opening. The city boasts a strong and dynamic retail and restaurant mix that we are very happy to join.
“The Queen Square location provided an ideal opportunity for us to start cooking our burgers and fries in this exciting market.”
