Walter Mosley, Jon Ronson and Owen Jones are among the writers leading the line-up at this year’s Writing on the Wall festival, organisers have announced.
Kicking off on 1 May, the event returns with an ‘American Dreams’ themed programme of spoken word, theatre, film, discussion and debate running up until 2 July.
With an eclectic mix of writers and artists taking part in events across the city, the 2015 festival will be celebrating Liverpool’s literary links with America and specifically New York, as it also ties in with this year’s One Magnificent City programme in the city.
Following the release of his latest book ‘Inside a Silver Box’, admired American writer Walter Mosley will be heading to the city for an evening at Liverpool Town Hall. Meanwhile Jon Ronson, the writer of ‘Psychopath Test’ and fictional screenplay ‘Frank’, will be talking about his new book ‘So You’ve Been Publicly Shamed’ at Central Library; and columnist and author of international bestseller ‘Chavs: The Demonisation of the Working Class’, Owen Jones will be heading up a panel of guests to discuss the establishment at the city’s Black-E.
Strictly Harlem, Tracey Thorn, Lemn Sissay, Ryan Gatiss, Marvel Comics, Camilo Jose Vergara, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown and Salena Godden have also been added to the festival bill.
