A special event to raise mental health awareness will take place at the Rotunda cafe in North Liverpool today (16 January) to mark Blue Monday.
Liverpool Mental Health Consortium has teamed up with Writing on the Wall to launch the audio-themed A Listening Party on Blue Monday to promote wellbeing on what is said to be the bleakest day of the year.
The event coincides with the launch of the Finding Some Way Through (A City of the Mind) project at the Rotunda, a soundscape created by project participants, led by composer and musical director Patrick Dineen.
The sonic tapestry comprises sounds recorded across Liverpool over a 12-week period using the latest digital techniques.
A statement from the team reads: “All participants created a ‘district’ of their own in a imaginary city – a city of the mind. From this central metaphor, a narrative was constructed based on an imagined character’s journey across the city.
“The piece uses no spoken narrative, leaving it open for the listener to create their own inner journey as they travel across the city.”
The listening party will take place between 6pm and 7:30pm and the piece will be available to listen to at the Rotunda throughout this week.
