A host of 2017 events have been confirmed for Albert Dock as the landmark destination reports record visitor numbers over the past 12 months.
A schedule of new and returning festivals is being lined up to take place at the Grade I-listed attraction, which drew an audience of 6.3 million people in 2016.
As the dock celebrates the 8% uplift in footfall year on year, like for like, which is also said to have brought a £13m boost to Liverpool’s visitor economy, it’s looking to continue its success in 2017 with help from weekend-long events.
New for this year is British Style Collective presented by The Clothes Show in association with Alcatel on 7-9 July.
Promising a celebration of fashion, the summer addition is part of a city-wide takeover to tie in with The Clothes Show’s relocation to Liverpool.
This year will also see the return of Steam on the Dock on 6-7 May, filling Albert Dock with trains, boats and engines of the industrial age; as well as Folk Festival on the Dock from 28-28 August which will recognise Liverpool’s rich musical and maritime heritage.
Heritage on the Dock will follow on 7-10 September, giving a nod to unique heritage of the iconic Albert Dock and unlocking its secrets.
Then the attraction’s longest running event, Pirate Festival on the Dock, will bring another action-packed weekend of swashbuckling family fun on 16-17 September.
As usual, Albert Dock will also play a part in staging a number of other city-wide cultural events and celebrations.
Clare Rawlinson, marketing manager at Albert Dock Liverpool, says: “It is with great excitement that we can confirm all five flagship events will return in 2017 – even bigger and better than before!
“The city-wide event programme includes International Mersey River Festival, Armed Forces Day, 67-17: 50 Summers of Love, LightNight and British Style Collective. We will continue to work closely with our waterfront and wider city partners, including Culture Liverpool and Open Culture, to ensure these are a success.”
