Bakchich to launch second Liverpool eatery

Lebanese eatery Bakchich is set to launch a second restaurant in Liverpool.

The Williamson Square spot will be the street food specialist’s third in the North West, joining the popular Bold Street site and a Manchester branch.

Plans submitted to Liverpool City Council by InfraRed, the owner of St John’s Shopping Centre, have been approved for a change of use of the ‘That’s Entertainment’ store to accommodate the new branch.

Bakchich, which serves Lebanese street food with a french twist, started out on the christmas markets of Liverpool before opening its first permanent restaurant on Bold Street in August 2013.

According to its website, the Bakchich vision is to introduce Lebanese Street food to Liverpool and Manchester and to educate and help customers discover about the Arabic food culture, traditions and heritage that unite communities.

Amine El Guaddar, CEO of Bakchich, says: “After opening our second branch in Manchester last year, we have been looking for our third site for some time.

“We have worked very close with the landlord and council on the 2,500 sq ft space – both have both been very supportive throughout the process.

“It’s a delight to be breathing new life into an exciting new unit in Liverpool. Work should start within four weeks and we hope to be open for summer, creating 25 new jobs.

“Many people are still unfamiliar with Lebanese cuisine but we hope that one day it will be just as popular as Italian – after all, Britain is the hummus capital of Europe, with over 12,000 tonnes sold each year.”
