Liverpool will welcome the Northern Boat Show in 2015 as part of the International Mersey River Festival.
The boat show, hosted by Carnah Events, will take place during the festival, from 5-7 June, and will see world class sailing and power boats head to the Mersey and attract buyers from across the country to see the boats and have access to the latest marine products, systems and services.
Joe Anderson, Mayor of Liverpool, says: “Liverpool can provide the perfect platform for a boat show and it’s a fantastic prospect for the city. A boat show element of the already hugely popular River Festival would take it to the next level.”
In 2014, the International Mersey River Festival attracted around 200,000 visitors and saw a packed schedule of maritime activities for visitors to enjoy, including exploring Tall Shops, fly-boarding, and have-a-go water sport sessions. The festival also hosted Music on the Waterfront, and 2014 saw performances from the likes of Craig Charles, Russell Watson and The Christians.
Sue Grindrod, chair of Albert Dock Liverpool supported the proposals by Carnah Events. “Albert Dock and our Waterfront partners, Canal & River Trust, are very supportive of the outline plans to bring the Northern Boat Show to Liverpool”, she says.
“We look forward to the full plan from Culture Liverpool as we have seen how amazing the River Festival is for the economy and this could be a brilliant addition to the calendar.”
