Communal ‘avenues’ and street improvements will aim to help communities flourish in Liverpool’s Welsh Streets as a regeneration project progresses.

Newly released pictures show how the initial 24 pilot homes in the area will look as a Victorian terraced street is brought back to life by Placefirst.

The private rental sector specialist is developing a Welsh Streets masterplan under agreement with Liverpool City Council that could see up to 300 new homes created through remodelling and refurbishment.

Communal ‘avenues’ are forming part of the Welsh Streets transformation.

As displayed in the images, traditional rear yards and alleys are being demolished to make way for the avenues while, to the front of the homes, new tree planting, landscape features and improved on-street parking will help to revive the appearance of the area.

Wilf Larder, director of operations at Placefirst, says: “These new images show how the first phase of development has retained the rich heritage features of the Victorian terrace, whilst bringing the Welsh Streets into the 21^st Century with innovative remodelling and distinctive landscape features.

“We are confident that features such as the avenues will give this development something unique and provide a safe, attractive environment where neighbours can become friends and children can play.”
