Gallery: First look at Kazimier team’s Omphalos show

Images giving a first look at the new immersive theatre show from the Kazimier team have been unveiled ahead of tonight’s (19 May) opening to the public.

Omphalos – ‘Energy Eternal’ will take over the creative group’s new Invisible Wind Factory venue on Regent Road in the North Docks, and promises a spectacle of performance and music mixed with science and technological innovation.

With performances taking place until 22 May, audiences will be taken on a journey through the extensive warehouse space during the show, which features an eight-person choir who use gesture to control audio, lighting and mechanical effects.

Omphalos comes after a successful Kickstarter campaign to raise more than £9,000 and is an introduction to a programme of events  lined up for the new venue, which is the latest venture for the team following the closure of Wolstenholme Square’s Kazimier Club at the end of 2015.

The Invisible Wind Factory, which Kazimier co-founder Sam Crombie says will offer “a home for new experiences and performances”, joins the team’s Kazimier Garden venue in the city.
