Liverpool FC legend Jamie Carragher has teamed up with car manufacturer Chery, which has been named headline partner of the Global Football Industry Awards.
Launched by the former Reds defender in 2025, the awards celebrate the often-unsung heroes of football, recognising the individuals and teams whose dedication and hard work help keep the game moving, from grassroots clubs to the professional level.
This year’s ceremony takes place in London on Thursday 5 November, with Jamie joined by former England star Theo Walcott and broadcaster Hayley McQueen. More than 500 figures from across the football industry are expected to attend, while fellow Scouser and England assistant manager Anthony Barry will make a special guest appearance, taking part in an on-stage Q&A about his career and England’s 2026 World Cup campaign.
To mark the partnership with Chery, Jamie recently visited Arnold Clark’s Liverpool showroom, where he got behind the wheel to test-drive a selection of the brand’s vehicles.
He says: “I’m delighted to have Chery on board as our headline partner for this year’s Global Football Industry Awards.
“Football is about so much more than what happens on the pitch, and these awards are all about recognising the brilliant people who make the game what it is. It’s fantastic to have Chery supporting us in celebrating them.”
Farrell Hsu, managing director at Chery UK, adds: “Football is built on the people working behind the scenes, from club staff and matchday coaches to the volunteers running community programmes at a grassroots level.
“The Global Football Industry Awards give them the recognition they deserve, and we’re very proud to be the headline partner this year, helping to shine a spotlight on the contribution these unsung heroes make every single day.”
As part of the partnership, Chery has also donated a holiday as a prize for a raffle taking place at the awards ceremony. All proceeds will go towards the 2026 Football for Change fundraising drive, supporting the organisation’s ongoing work to lift young people out of poverty.
