Popular cultural organisations including Kazimier Productions, Africa Oyé and Liverpool Pride will turn up the heat at Feast of Fire this weekend.

As the four-day Easter weekend brings Walk the Plank’s attraction at St John’s Gardens to a close, the organisers are promising more memorable spectacles.

Leading Indian arts trust Milapfest will also bring a vibrant contribution to the party, with support from Liverpool Mental Health Consortium, as the festivities continue.

Feast of Fire, which kicked off on Friday 23 March and has been transforming the St George’s Quarter site with evenings of fire-fuelled sculpture installations, food and drink, music and live performance, has already celebrated Chinese culture, soul and Celtic themes with help from Liverpool SoulFest, Movema and Pagoda Arts.

Ahead of the Easter offering, Walk the Plank’s co-founder and creative producer, John Wassell, says: “We have been blown away by the magical mix of fire, music and dance at St John’s Gardens last weekend and we can’t wait to introduce four more nights over Easter, with each one unique and incredible in its own way.

“From the funk of The Kazimier, the African rhythm of Africa Oyé, the magic of Liverpool Pride and the colour of Milapfest, the cultural organisations involved in this weekend’s lates will ensure that this Easter will be remembered for a very long time to come.

“Our Feast of Fire early sessions will also promise more fire and fun with fiery performers weaving their way through visitors and the magically transformed fiery gardens.”

The weekend line-up for the ticketed events is as follows:

Good Friday, 30 March: The Kazimier Fire Garden, by Kazimier Productions, promises electrified terracotta soldiers, synthesizing wizards and funky tunes amongst its offering.

Holy Saturday, 31 March: African Heat, by Africa Oyé, serves up a sneak peak of its annual festival with music and dance from Congolese band Kasai Masai and Beaten Track’s DJ Richie Vegas. Movema will also return to the gardens.

Easter Sunday, 1 April: Liverpool Pride on Fire is lining up visuals and a celebration of talent in the queer music scene, with a bill of entertainers including Queen Zee and the Sasstones, soul sister Jennifer John and local favourites Dollman Disco and Sonic Yootha.

Easter Monday, 2 April: Agni – The Fire of India, hosted by Milapfest, is set to bring a burst of colour, bhangra music and dynamic dance along with acts including Jasdeep Singh Degun, Bombay Baja and Nachda Sansaar.
