A special fundraising concert will take place at the Lantern Theatre tonight (24 May) in an effort to raise money for the children of Syria.

Acoustic singer songwriter Keith James will perform the music of Yusuf/ Cat Stevens at the Blundell Street venue with all proceeds and audience donations going towards UNICEF UK’s Syrian children’s appeal.

The set list will include hits from Yusuf/ Cat Stevens’ significant back catalogue including songs such as ‘Wild Word’, ‘Father and Son’, ‘Moonshadow’ and ‘Where Do The Children Play’.

All of Keith’s concerts are based on dedicated studies of poets and songwriters with whom he identifies as having quality and integrity. Yusuf himself campaigns on many educational and humanitarian issues and was presented with the ‘Man of Peace’ award by the Nobel Peace Laureates in 2004. In 2015 and he received the Lifetime achievement award from BBC Radio 2 and the Ivor Novello Award for outstanding song collection.

The ongoing conflict in Syria has caused the largest humanitarian crisis since World War Two, with the lives of more than 8 million children in danger. Many have lost family and friends and have also been forced to flee their homes.
