Legacie bolsters senior leadership team with CFO appointment

Liverpool-based property developer Legacie has appointed Mick Slater as chief financial officer (CFO) as it continues its expansion into the Build-to-Rent sector.

Slater joins the firm after 11 years at leading residential and student accommodation provider Vita Group, where he played a key role in scaling operations and securing funding for major development projects across the UK and internationally.

The appointment of Slater coincides with the promotion of Gavin Currie to chief operating officer (COO). Since joining Legacie in 2021, Currie has worked closely with founder and CEO John Morley to oversee all project operations, steer the business into new markets such as social housing, and implement robust governance and systems across all divisions.

Over the past three years, Legacie has experienced rapid growth, doubling its headcount to over 150 employees and reaching a turnover of £140 million.

John Morley, founder and chief executive officer of Legacie, says: “We are delighted to welcome Mick to the team.

“His financial insight and industry experience will be invaluable as we continue to grow and diversify. With Gavin’s promotion to chief operating officer and Mick joining as chief financial officer, we have significantly strengthened our leadership team to deliver on our long-term ambition to be a leading BTR provider in the UK.”

Founded in 2016 by Morley, Legacie has delivered multiple residential projects across the North West, including Liverpool’s Parliament Square, Millers Place, and Embankment Exchange in Salford.
