Local housing association nominated for national awards

Housing association South Liverpool Homes (SLH) has been shortlisted for two awards at this year’s Housing Association National Accountancy Awards (HANA’s).

Organised by the National Housing Federation (NHF), the event recognises financial excellence across the country’s housing sector.

SLH has been nominated in the Most Effective Risk Management Approach category with SLH’s Michael Whitehead in the running for the Finance Director of the Year award in the small/medium organisation (up to 10,000 homes owned and managed) section.

Wayne Gales, deputy CEO at SLH (pictured), says: “Like many housing associations, we are operating in very challenging times which means we have had to work harder than ever to make sure we continue to maintain our financial strength so that we can continue to deliver excellent services to our tenants.

“Michael’s contribution has been invaluable to our successes at SLH, ensuring our finances are robust, compliant and support SLH’s future growth.”

SLH is part of The SLH Group which also includes social enterprise SLH Regeneration and development company SLH Projects. Operating predominately in the Speke and Garston areas of Liverpool, SLH currently manages around 3,700 properties.

The winners of the HANA’s will be announced at an awards ceremony on 5 July at the Radisson Blu Portman Hotel in London.
