A 14-storey apartment block could be built on the edge of Liverpool’s burgeoning Ten Streets district under newly submitted plans.

An existing building on Waterloo Road, which is currently occupied on the ground floor by Bacchus Greek Taverna, would be demolished to make way for the new development from Waterloo Tower Liverpool Limited.

The new scheme, referred to in plans as ‘Voyager’, would contain 120 apartments – split 50/50 into one and two bedroom units, with a three-bed duplex flat located on the top floor.

According to a planning document included with the application, it was originally envisioned that the development would become a “feature” of Liverpool’s skyline – reaching a height of 32 storeys.

However, following a pre-application meeting with the council’s head of planning, it was suggested to the applicant that a 14-storey structure was more appropriate for the site.
