New landlords are being urged to ensure they have everything in order to comply with all regulations as the lettings sector becomes ‘more complicated’.

Industry expert, Louis Anastasiou, managing director of Liverpool’s estate and lettings agency Andrew Louis, is calling on property owners with little expertise in renting out properties to be aware of recently introduced procedures.

One such procedure is Section 21 eviction notices and tenancy agreements, as well as immigration right to rent checks.

He says: “Unless you are an expert in the industry you may not know what’s required. There are new people coming into the sector and they need to make sure they are covered.”

With further regulations expected to be implemented throughout this year, Louis adds: “The sector is getting more complicated for the novice landlord so they need to make sure they’re compliant.

“Landlords need to be ready as some new regulations are already here and some are coming.”
