Planning submitted for final phase of Liverpool Shopping Park

Acting on behalf of the Albery Gubay Charitable Foundation,  Derwent Estates has submitted a planning application for the final phase of development at Liverpool Shopping Park.

The £8 million expansion will deliver 40,000 sq ft of additional retail space, anchored by existing tenant M&S Food which is relocating to a larger 24,500 sq ft store having committed to a 15 year lease.

Once delivered, this final phase will complete the long term vision for the scheme; developing the last remaining plot and creating a continuous terrace of retail units across the entire site, which will ultimately total 277,000 sq ft.

James Maule-Ffinch, asset management director at Derwent Estates, says: “This development is the final piece of the jigsaw for this extremely popular retail park. It will not only enhance the customer experience with an upsized high-quality anchor store in M&S Food store but also strengthen the overall tenant mix and complete the original masterplan for the scheme.

“We are proud to be delivering the concluding phase of a project that has already brought significant investment, jobs and best-in-class retail and leisure brands to the area.”

The submission follows swiftly on the heels of the recently opened £11m Phase 3, which saw Hollywood Bowl upgrade its existing building and welcomed several new tenants including Wingstop and Five Guys, all of which are now open and “trading strongly”.

Will Smith, M&S property director, adds: “We are excited to reveal our plans to create a brand-new show stopping food store at a new location in Liverpool Shopping Park.

“The move to a site more than double the size of our existing store means we can offer even more trusted value, unbeatable quality, the latest product launches and showcase the very best of M&S Food for customers. Our colleagues would transfer across to the new store, and the move will help to create even more local jobs for the community.”

McMullen Real Estate and CSP are the retained letting agents for the remaining 15,500 sq ft of available space.
