Plans for major Baltic Triangle development given go-ahead

Major plans for a significant residential and commercial development on Norfolk Street in the Baltic Triangle have been given the green-light.

Peter McInnes, chair of North Point Global, says, “We are delighted with the positive decision and are really excited to get on site and deliver the latest stage of the project.

“In residential terms we are breaking new ground with our life-style and concierge offer, but the proposed street art gallery and commercial space are also a really important part of the vision.”

“They are a literally vital – bringing the life and personality that will make Berry House a place, and not just a development.”

Known as Phase two and Phase three, the plans consist of two apartment blocks which will house nearly 200 residents with added space for galleries, commercial workshops, a courtyard and shops.

The two blocks will sit either side of an already approved scheme to build student accommodation with workshop space on both the ground and first floors of a 9 or 11 storey building.

Phase two of the project near St James Street is set to feature 125 flats across a part-nine and part-six storey block. Phase three, near Jamaica Street, will contain 72 studios within a part-five and part-nine storey building.

Consent was also granted on developer Unite Group’s plans to build new student accommodation on the site of a car park in Oldham Street.

Designed by Rio Architects, the one-acre site will contain 106 flats and 58 studio apartments across four blocks.
