New student housing could be built in the L3 area of Liverpool city centre under proposals submitted to the council’s planning department.
An unnamed applicant is seeking to carry out demolition work at 33 Devon Street to pave the way for student apartments with space for shops and businesses on the ground floor.
The proposed student halls, which will contain 178 studio flats, will vary between six and eight storeys in height, occupying a site that measures in at approximately 0.1 hectares.
A wholesale cash and carry is currently situated at 33 Devon Street, with a number of unlabelled residential buildings neighbouring it.
A report submitted to Liverpool City Council’s planning department reads: “The proposed development would comprise mixed-use development, building varying between six and eight storeys containing 178 student studios and ground floor commercial and business use.”
Assessments to determine air quality, noise impact, and bat roost suitability have already been carried out at the site, along with a phase one desk study.
